Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, is the title sponsor of the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Etihad Airways made its first commercial flight in November 2003.
Since then, the airline has grown faster than any other in commercial
aviation history, currently serving 48 destinations in Africa, Asia,
Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline carried 4.6 million passengers in 2007 and
was on course to break through the six million passenger barrier in
2008.
Etihad offers the highest standards of service and comfort both on the
ground and in the air. Customers can enjoy world-class cuisine,
award-winning flat-beds in its premium cabins and the widest seats in
economy, as well as more than 500 hours of on-demand in-flight
entertainment.
Etihad operates one of youngest and most environmentally-efficient
fleets in the world, a fleet which is set to grow to 40 by the end of
2008.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said: “Hosting the final
race of the F1 season at our home base of Abu Dhabi is a great honour
and incredibly exciting for Etihad as the race’s title sponsor.
“The new Yas Marina circuit is set to become one of the most iconic
racing tracks in the world and will provide a fantastic opportunity to
showcase Abu Dhabi to the rest of the world, not just to the thousands
of spectators fortunate enough to be there in person but also to the
hundreds of millions around the world who will be watching the race
unfold live on television.”
